Toronto area Meet Up Event - Fun In The Sun Dance - A DryDance Production

TPE DryDance Meet Up Events - Newmarket, G.T.A., Toronto Dance, Music, Entertainment - Just No Alcohol

DryDance Production
TP Entertainment & Productions presents a DryDance Production series of  once a monthnon licensed, themed dances at Newmarket's fabulous, Stellar Hall and Events Centre, located at 1220 Stellar Drive Unit 205, just off the 404 / Davis Dr. exit in Newmarket, Ontario, Canada. 25 Minutes north of Toronto, 25 minutes south of Barrie. Yahoo! It's about time!

The first dance is Sat Feb 15 2014, dubbed the " Fun In The Sun Dance " and features a theme that embraces the sun, including sunny destination influences with D.J. styled music in between a live  Reggae / rock  / country band, The Yappers, carrying the night with some island and California flavour accompanied by some light munchies, door prizes, and a prize for the "Most Daring Outfit" - baring our own wintry weather in mind. Think Fun and Sun! 8pm - 1 am.

Aside from the band and house music towing our theme line, the live music and dance event will offer an array of the usual bubbly pop-like soda beverages, but hopes to include some fresh fruit smoothie Caribbean / Exotic location style choices as well!

Tickets are $10 in advance or $12 at the door. Purchase in advance through various channels or at Stellar Hall Or Call TPE @ 289-221 - 0928
Beautiful Stellar Hall - Staffing and Catering optional

TPE decided to start these sans alcohol dances, because a growing number of people had been approaching us about wanting to attend a dance that didn't serve alcohol. "Not that there was anything wrong with that", they'd say, " just that, some that were trying to avoid it would also find it nice to have a place to go to". I also heard from a number of others who just liked an atmosphere wherein people weren't drinking and someone wasn't repeating the same story in their ear for the umpteenth time, while trying to come off as being a sincere listener. Ha. That I won't miss.

I first began to seriously consider holding dances without alcohol while putting together a local dining and party guide for New Year's Eve and for the Stellar Hall N.Y.'s party, something I replicated online from my news days as a Columnist writing " Local Flavour " and " At The Clubs" for CoverStory newspaper. The New Year's Eve Guide Listing worked well then, and they worked phenominally well online in 2013-14 - but there was no local event / listing for a dance without alcohol. And with more urging and encouragement from some friends that attend such events, one of who ran such dances some years ago, I
TP's 1994 Club Listings for Newmarket with L.C. Chalks
decide to go for it.

Truth be known I almost started a "sober dance" some years ago in a location above the now former Roman Palace location, down the hall from what was then known as L.C. Chalks, a pool hall slash night club, after a similar encounter. I was told by someone then, who himself had attended out of town dances, that people from the area were traveling as far as Barrie and often to Toronto to attend, socialize and dance. Unfortunately the same guy turned me in to the fire inspectors before I was ready to get off the ground and nipped me / it in the bud. Ha.

TP Sings and Dances on occasion when bored
Fast forward today. I bore easily and crave an atmosphere of fun, excitement and entertainment - so that is what we intend to give. It matters not whether or not liquor is present to attain that goal. I've never sought people or places out based on whether they did or didn't drink or serve alcohol, but in fact, I never had much choice...until now!

Just Have A Blast...
No Questions Asked!

Whether patrons drink or not other times is none of my business and never will be. For me it will be all about making the events as fun and hospitable as possible and to make everyone feel welcome....and I expect to instill some of my wackyness into the fray. Believe me, I don't need alcohol to be wild. Well, not too wild. Lol. The first event will likely have some kinks, but not many, and we will certainly be open to listening to ideas and input, including the possibility of starting up an "Early Birds" Supper Club to run before each future monthly dance as an option at the superb Stellar Hall and banquets facility location.

For TPE's events in the past, we've incorporated everything from Air Guitar, to Karaoke, To Mural Art Contests up to a live version of The Dating Game, complete with theme music and dinner for two as a prize...Insert theme music here! Ha
